چکیده

LIDAR (laser radar) is used to measure three-dimensional(3-D) object positions. It produces a range and an intensity image ofthe measured object and relieson the range image to determine the 3-Dpositions of the object. But, the range image is frequently corrupted withnoise. A dynamic calibration method has been established to improvethe LIDAR accuracy basedon a polynomial calibration model and anautoregressive moving average (ARV) calibration model. Experimentalresults show that the measurement errors of the LIDAR system havebeen reduced from 163 counts to 18 counts after compensation usingthe polynomial calibration model and that the errors have been furtherreduced to11 counts with the ARV model.

Effect of the surface sensing area in the response of porous silicon organic vapor sensors

Abstract: In this work, the responses of porous silicon organic vapor sensors with different surface sensing area were investigated. Porous silicon layers with high specific surface area produced by electrochemical etching of p type 2-5 Ω-cm c-Si wafers were used to sense the presence of organic vapors (methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, xilene, acetone or water in this work). Different geometrica...

Detaching droplets in immiscible fluids from a solid substrate with electrowetting

1. Variation of contact angle (θ) according to applied voltage (V) for electrowetted droplets submerged in oil media with viscosities of 0.65 cSt and 5 cSt, and the relationship between cosθ–cosθ o and V 2 The contact angle variations of a droplet in oil with different viscosities were measured with varying DC voltages. The results are compared with the values predicted by the Young– Lippmann e...

Influence of adhesive rough surface contact on microswitches

Stiction is a major failure mode in microelectromechanical systems MEMS . Undesirable stiction, which results from contact between surfaces, threatens the reliability of MEMS severely as it breaks the actuation function of MEMS switches, for example. Although it may be possible to avoid stiction by increasing restoring forces using high spring constants, it follows that the actuation voltage ha...

An appraisal of the electrical resistance method for assessing root surface area

Electrical resistances of roots and stems of hydroponically raised willows (Salix schwerinii) were studied and related to root morphology. Willow cuttings with and without roots were set in a constant electric field (effective voltage of 0.1 V, sine-AC, 128 Hz) in a hydroponic solution. The electrical resistance of different components in the measurement system was measured and analysed in rela...

Assembling molecular electronic junctions one molecule at a time.

Diffusion of metal atoms onto a molecular monolayer attached to a conducting surface permits electronic contact to the molecules with minimal heat transfer or structural disturbance. Surface-mediated metal deposition (SDMD) involves contact between "cold" diffusing metal atoms and molecules, due to shielding of the molecules from direct exposure to metal vapor. Measurement of the current throug...
